Hennessey Officially Unveils 1200 hp Venom GT

News

Summary text here.

There's no way around it. The Hennessey Venom GT is a no compromise bat-poo insane car. It's powered by a heavily modified LS9 V8 from the Corvette ZR1. In this case, heavily modified means almost double the output of the Vette's motor at 1200 hp. The chassis is derived from the featherweight Lotus Exige and all said the Venom GT weighs about 2400 lbs.

To put this in perspective, the Bugatti Veyron's power to weight ratio is 0.254, while the Venom GT's is nearly twice that at a not so trifling 0.5. If this is too much for potential buyers, it's also available with 725 hp and 1000 hp. Still nothing to sneeze at.

Power will be transfered through a six speed Ricardo gear box. Suspension is adjustable and stopping power is provided by six pot front calipers and four pot rears. There's also a traction control system. Hopefully it works really well.

Pricing starts at $600,000 and only ten will be built per year. The price also includes a driver orientation session, and Hennessy ensures us they've logged hundreds of miles a day to ensure that it doesn't blow up.
