Spotted in the Wild: 1971 Ford Torino Cobra

News

Jamie spots an underrated muscle car classic from the early seventies.

This thing stopped me dead in my tracks today as I was leaving a friend's house. It's a cherry example of a 1971 Ford Torino Cobra. The decal on the front fender indicates that this particular car is equipped with the 285bhp 351 Windsor V8 instead of the optional 370bhp 429. The Torino Cobra featured several enhancements over the regular Torino including a front air damn, black shaker hood (I really have a thing for shaker hoods), competition suspension and a four speed Hurst shifter.

This is clearly no trailer queen. It looks like it gets driven pretty often and everything looks original. The Torino may not be the most sought-after muscle car at the moment, but they are fairly rare since only 3,054 Torino Cobras were built in 1971. It's always good to see survivors like this.
