MOPAR day at Brooklands

Photos from MOPAR day at Brooklands.

Brooklands Museum is a mecca for classic car (and aircraft) enthusiasts, recalling the 1920s and 30s when gentleman drivers risked all on for motor racing glory on the steep banking.  Yesterday, however, it was featuring cars from a rather newer era and for most part from the other side of the Altantic as it held a MOPAR for cars from the Chrysler corporation. As the speakers rang out to the sounds of AC/DC, Aerosmith and ZZ Top, the concrete trembled to the rumbling of huge American V8s.

The event was open to all American cars but it was the MOPARs that held centre stage with a selection of Chargers, Challengers, 'Cudas, and Roadrunners. It wasn't just American MOPARs too, as there were a couple of Valiant Chargers from Chrysler's Austrialian division and a MOPAR-powered Jensen Interceptor. One of the stars of the show for me was a rare Monteverdi 375, again featuring a 7.2 litre Chrysler V8.

Perhaps the coolest car though was a 1972 Imperial from Chrysler's now defunct luxury brand. At 22 ft long it is one of the longest production cars ever made. I'm sure the driving experience in the UK is ... interesting, but you would arrive in some Seventies style!

Check out some of the cars in the gallery below.
