Remembering a true racer.
Porsche Supercup driver Sean Edwards lost his life today in an accident at Queensland Raceway in Australia. He was a passenger in a 996 Cup car during a private test session when the car left the racetrack and crashed into the tyre barriers. He was killed instantly.
The outpouring of emotion across the motor racing world following the news of his death has been incredible. Edwards was universally liked and his career was in the ascendancy in 2013. With three wins to his name in 2013 in the Supercup championship, he would have gone into the final two races in Abu Dhabi at the top of the points standings and a clear favourite for the title. In addition to his Porsche successes this year, his victory in the Nürburgring 24H driving a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 alongside teammates Bernd Schneider, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Nicki Thiim made him only the third British driver to win the event.
