The San Diego neighborhood of South Park has brought us yet another retro British roadster.
This time we've got a '58 MGA. As luck would have it, while I was shooting this car, it's owner returned. Obviously, a little bewildered that a stranger was taking pictures of his pride and joy, he threw me a cheerful "hello" and we struck up a conversation.
He turned out to be a bit of a MG fanatic. He bought it in October of last year in pretty much the condition you see here. Since owning he's done some minor head work to the engine and given the interior a touch up.
The MGA was built from 1955 to 1962. This particular car's engine was was somewhat ahead of it's time. It's a 1588cc twin-cam four cylinder with aluminum heads and it produces a very respectable for it's time 108bhp. Plenty when it's only got a little under a ton to push around. Top speed was said to be 108mph and it was able to sprint to 60 in 9.1 seconds.
