Mercedes continues to expand its racing program with the CLA45 AMG Racing Series.
Mercedes has been big on racing lately and is expanding its empire beyond F1, DTM, V8 Supercars and GT3 with the new CLA45 AMG Racing Series. Though it’s officially a concept, Mercedes could eventually sell it to privateer race teams if demand turns out to be high enough. It’s meant to slot in below the SLS GT3 racer, which has been an extremely prolific race car around the world for a few years now, and can be easily modified to conform to a variety of rules and regulations.
Mercedes isn’t announcing power figures (likely because it will change depending on the race series its entered in), but it’s likely that it’s powered by a racier version of the 360 horsepower twin-turbo 2.0 liter found in the CLA45 AMG road car. The rest of the Racing Series has been completely overhauled as well. Many of the body panels have been replaced with carbon fiber items and a new ground effect aero kit, massive rear spoiler and widened front and rear tracks keeps the shinny side up. The interior is proper stripped-out race car stuff, with a single Recaro seat, racing wheel with paddle shifters and lots of carbon fiber.
Looks like the perfect N24 car to us.
