Idle surfing of the auction company websites today has revealed that Coys will be auctioning two Iso Grifos at next weekend's auction at the Techno Classica event in Germany.
The first is, in my eyes, the more attractive Series 1 car with the open headlights, and a Chevy 350 small block engine. The web catalogue does not provide many details (slightly worrying) but estimates that the car will sell for between €115,000 and €130,000.
The second car is a Series 2 and features a Ford Cleveland small block with ZF five speed transmission and air conditioning, making it a much rarer beast. The use of the Ford engine means that the car has the power bulge normally associated with the big block Grifos. The catalogue provides more details on the history of the car but curiously provides a wider range of estimated value at between €110,000 and €140,000.
It's slightly difficult to choose between the two cars. The Series 1 is the prettier car (and I prefer the colour) but the Series 2 has a more unusual and desirable specification. However, since mechanicals can be upgraded, I'll go for looks and plump for the Series 1.
