Last December, BMW Motorsports announced that they would be building a BMW Z4 GT3 Spec racecar for its customers to go racing with. It was rumored to get a V8. Now we know that they did in fact fit a V8 shaped peg into a non-V8 shaped hole. We know its a 4.0 liter V8 producing 480 hp probably sourced from the M3, although that's not official. However, both the Type-408 ECU and Power400 control unit do come straight out of the M3 GT2. Does anyone remember what happened the last time BMW mix-and-matched like this? Let's just say success has its penalties.
